However, the work is only partially available, as only the beginning until 70 AD survives, leaving out 26 years of history. The book provides an excellent account of the turbulent era after Nero's death and the Vierkaiserjahr (Year of the Four Emperors) that followed. However, the book is not an easy read, with many battles and uprisings that can be overwhelming. The section on the Jews is problematic, as Tacitus' ignorance towards them is evident in his report of unfounded rumors.
