Introducing the Dr. Martens Womens Winton Boot, a legendary footwear choice for women who appreciate style, comfort, and durability. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident. Determined to make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an innovative air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he created soles that trapped air within closed compartments, providing unmatched comfort and support. Dr.
Martens teamed up with engineer/inventor Dr. Herbert Funck to develop and produce these revolutionary shoes. Not only did they solve the doctor's immediate problem, but they also gained popularity in Germany.
In 1959, they decided to expand their reach globally and needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes. Despite initial skepticism from manufacturers, the R. Griggs Group in England saw the potential and created the first work boot featuring the iconic air-cushioned sole. On April 1, 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was born and named 1460.
To appeal to the English market, the name was changed to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and quickly became a household name. The Womens Winton Boot combines the timeless style and unmatched quality of Dr.
