It's very easy to apply, and users should ensure that the leather is clean before application. They should also use very little of the balm at a time to prevent darkening or an oily residue. It has a pleasant beeswax smell, and though it may be noticeable initially, it fades away within days. While it has great reviews for its performance, like effectively moisturizing and protecting leather from water damage, improving the feel of leather, and leaving a nice finish, some customers have reported the balm darkening their light-colored leather or leaving an oily residue.
