Answer: I've seen no noticeable difference between edges in straightness. One edge is thicker. -

Answer: There not etched into the edge, appears to be a metal tape with measurements I tried to see if edge could be picked off but couldn't and didn't want to apply more force. -

How is it packed, is it sent in a good protected packaging?
Answer: The straight edge is packaged in it's own cardboard sleeve, which was put into larger cardboard sleeve with additional packing paper. I would say it was well packed. -
