As the window opens, the rod and curtain swing with the window. The mounting bracket itself only comes out about 1.25 inches from the trim. These rods are sturdy and durable, and the swing arms work well at bow windows. The only thing is they don’t always stay straight when you install them. Some of the rods drop a little when opened to see out. The rods are not free return items, so make sure to keep this in mind before purchasing.
