There are a few things to keep in mind when installing this distributor. You need to delete the ballast resistor to get a full 12+ volts to the distributor. Also, the old ignition harness wire should not be used. OEM routing goes from ignition harness out of the firewall to the coil. Then from the coil to the distributor. Old system delivers 9 volts through a reduced voltage wire, which is no good for the HEI distributor. The new distributor needs a full 12 volts to operate correctly. Overall, the MAS Ignition Distributor with Cap and Rotor 1040011 is a great product for those who want a high-quality ignition distributor that is easy to install and works great.
