The Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World is a large and comprehensive atlas that covers the ancient Mediterranean and much of continental Europe, as well as the British Isles. It includes exquisitely fine depictions of terrain, varying altitude levels minutely detailed by color and contour lines, major and minor road networks, cities, and a multitude of towns, villages, seaports, and islands. The geographical sweep includes all the ancient Mediterranean and much of continental Europe, as well as the British Isles, with individual pages honing in very specifically on the multiplicity of local regions that comprise this great geography of ancient Greece and Rome. Although a few customers have pointed out some errors in the mapping of specific sites, the overall experience of customers has been quite positive. One reviewer found it useful for both armchair travel and study and research. A classics professor found it to be very comprehensive and useful in the classroom. However, some have pointed out that it is unclear what the purpose of this book is and that it is already out-of-date.
