The Supermicro Atom C3955 motherboard boasts 16 cores, 256GB of RAM, plenty of SATA and USB and networking ports, and a processor TDP of 32 watts, all on a server-quality motherboard. Though it comes with a rather steep price, it is worth the investment, given that none of its competitors offers such capabilities. This motherboard and other Supermicro Atom boards take a long time to POST, and the CPU heatsink does not have a fan, so this could be a potential concern for some users. The board takes a long time to initialize when you make changes if you have a lot of memory. Re-installation of the OS from a live CD is recommended before use to set up the disks correctly. This is a bare board with no manual, cables, or I/O shield, which can set users back a little. However, it's durable, reasonably powerful and very efficient.
