This product is a non-toxic water-based sealant that is applied after the wood has been cleaned and dried with warm water and a mild liquid dish soap. Sanding or chemical deck strippers can be used to remove the product. It cannot be used on composite wood, only on untreated wood deck or furniture. The product is thin and penetrates deeper into the surface of the wood, giving it a clear finish that does not darken the wood. It is best applied in temperatures between 65-70 degrees and with all coats applied within a short period of time. One reviewer found it to be a better alternative to Ipe oil and was able to retain more brown color on their deck for six months. Another reviewer noticed white rubbery flakes throughout their trailer's wood floor after the final coat, and another said that the product broke down quickly under the sun. A user applied the sealant on a 15-year-old mahogany deck after using the Seal-Once wood cleaner and found it to be easy to apply and non-toxic. It strongly recommended for Deckwise IPE tile.
