GeneralAire Humidifier Unit 1042-LH The GeneralAire Humidifier Unit 1042-LH is a good unit for humidifying homes of varying sizes. It comes with plates that soak up water and allow hot air to blow over them. One potential issue with the unit is that the plastic label drops out after prolonged use, leaving a hole. However, this can be easily solved by placing a piece of cut aluminum in the slots. The unit includes a single pad, and residual unvaporated water flows out through the drain hole at the bottom of the humidifier. The solenoid opens when the furnace is in heat mode and the fan is running, allowing the water to run down the evaporator. The water valve can be adjusted to regulate the volume of water flowing through. Proper wiring is essential to ensure that the transformer gets power on the primary side whenever the furnace blower is in operation. The secondary side of the transformer passes through the humidistat to the water valve. The GeneralAire Humidifier Unit 1042-LH is suitable for homes up to 2700 square feet. Those experiencing static in their homes must ensure that they have cut the hole in the right vent leading to the house to maximize humidity levels. The unit can be flipped to work in either direction, depending on the user's needs.
