The Hape Quadrilla Wooden Marble Run Construction - Vertigo is a modular marble run set that comes with 3 spirals and a bag of marbles for children aged 4+. The set is capable of much more sophistication than a simple linear track when its specialized blocks are used in various configurations. The MARBLE blocks have different chutes and tunnels to direct the marbles to various exits, making it suitable for children even up to a 10-year-old who would still find it engaging. The set does not strictly need to be put together in pre-defined configurations, but it comes with instructions for functional tracks. The blocks, spacers, and spirals use standard size marbles, although Hape recommends using caution in ensuring replacements are also the same size. However, the pieces are not interlocking, and only gravity keeps them in contact with one another. Therefore, children must not touch or the assembly will collapse, requiring them to remake the entire setup. The product contains poorly written instructions printed on both sides of a non-sturdy paper, and the colors of the blocks are difficult to discern, making it challenging, especially for multiple children, to differentiate the color and function of the blocks. Overall, the quality of materials is excellent, and the set is capable of creating enormous amounts of fun and has an enormous potential for learning if the children learn the different abilities of each specialized block.
