It is a variable resistor and has humidity and temperature influences, but the resistance of the sensor component stabilizes after 24 hours. The MQ-138 works as a stand-alone module, emitting an LED signal for specific concentration levels but needs an analog pin (AOUT) for approximations of the actual gas level, which can be achieved by using an Adruino or MCP3008. The pinout on the sensor component is also discussed. Finally, a drawback of this module is the long warm-up time, several hours, and its relative inaccuracy for ppm readings.
