iStarUSA Computer Cases D-118V2-ITX Editorial Review
The iStarUSA D-118V2-ITX is an affordable 1U rackmount case that accommodates a mini-ITX motherboard. While it's reasonably solid for its budget price, it doesn't come with a power supply. The airflow for the HDDs and its position and that of the fans are awkward. The case may require modifications to suit specific needs, such as swapping or upgrading the front USB ports to USB 3. The ITX board may need spacers if using a heatsink that requires a backplate, as well as shortened IO shields. The mounting holes for the Flex ATX power supply are not stamped correctly, and the USB and front panel cables are too long. The rack ears are removable, and the top panel is held in place with captured and sprung thumb screws. However, it may sag and bend under a weight, indicating that it's not suitable for free standing. The case doesn't accommodate two 3.5inch HDDs, and the overhanging lip on the back makes stacked ethernet ports nearly impossible to use.
