The pump is threaded finely to only fit the supplied pump and there is no drain, but there is a vent to allow air in while pumping gas out. The strainer is on the pour spout, and there is none on the suction pipe, so using a paint filter when sucking in gas is advisable. Some customers say that after a few uses, debris (such as welding spatter) from the manufacturing process gets into the pump housing, which ruins the pump. Others report broken chains or cheaply-made plastic parts. On the upside, some customers are pleased with how easy it is to use, how quickly it pumps, and how it saves them trips to get fuel. One customer retrofitted a cast-iron and steel pump onto it and found it to be very effective.
