Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is a fan-service Persona game with good game mechanics. While it has its own storyline, it will help to have played Persona 3 and 4 to understand the story. However, not having prior knowledge of the series will not detract from what makes this game great. The mechanics of the game are very heavily Etrian Odyssey. The game comes with tarot cards used to summon personas in the velvet room. The game is not suitable for players outside of North America, and the US version will not work in any other region outside North America. The map lays out the ground as the player steps, but no walls or treasure box locations. The lower screen takes the place of the pen and paper, and there is a ghosted highlight of where walls are. There have been several reports of broken physical carts out there that have caused gameplay issues, and some customers have found the items being resold as new or with holes or tears in the cover, so it is recommended to beware when purchasing.
