It is recommended to hand wash it with mild detergent before use. The grinder grinds well and is a fabulous space saver, making it a great gift for cooks. However, some customers have reported issues with the quality of the grinder. Some have said that it broke after about three months of use and others have reported issues with the cap falling off while using the grinder. Additionally, some customers have had issues with the metal piece that you grip to grind on the pepper side coming unglued. However, customer service has been reported to be excellent by a customer in the reviews section.
