Answer: You can do one but more coats make it look darker and last longer. It's up to the look you want. On my truck tires, I do 3 coats! 2 is fine depending on the color you use. -

Will 1 pen do 4 tires?
Answer: That definitely depends on how large the letters are but these paint pens put out a lot of paint, and the tips sometimes allow even more paint out. So, you're gonna lose a bit, but if the text isn't too large and you're not painting a huge word or anything, you should be good. Just be gentle when breaking the seal by pushing down on the tip let the paint soak the tip slowly; otherwise, it will be a complete mess.
