It uses 12vdc power pack drawing less than 1 amp, making it easy to configure to run on battery power. The ink cartridges used are Black, Red or Purple and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer for $24.00 (set of two). It makes a noise when it prints but is much quieter than the Lathem time clock machine. The manual gives instructions on how to set print font size from 1(smallest) to 6 (Largest). However, it does not calculate hours worked. Customers have been using it for traffic flow, timestamping golf scorecards etc. The price is a little expensive, but it's common in the market. There's an updated version of this machine releasing next month (February) that will have optional Daylight Savings time built-in.
