They are both exactly 2 and 7/8'' wide and they keep moisture out. They are not perfect however, the set does not always come as advertised and they do not stack together firmly when they do not have lids. Overall, they are a great purchase for someone looking to add some style into their kitchen with easy-to-use and durable salt cellars.
