The Vantec NST-371C31-BK NexStar Gx USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C 3.5" Sata HDD/SSD Enclosure is an external hard drive enclosure that supports up to 12TB of storage. It comes with both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables and requires an AC adapter for power. The enclosure has a metal casing for heat dissipation, but the carrier (tray) for the drive and electronics is plastic. This may not be the best choice if heat dissipation is a concern. Some customers have reported issues with the drives disconnecting or blipping as ejected during heavy file transfers, while others have reported high thermals that required an external fan to keep the drive at an acceptable temperature. However, customers have also praised the product's solid metal Construction, compatibility with various HDDs, and sustained speeds of over 120MB/s.
