The tool has a 5.0-amp motor for variable speed up to 2500 RPM, cleanly cutting boards even up to 5/8" in thickness. It's even a good fit for thinner fiber-cement backer board. The tool has earned high marks for easy and precise cutting with minimal dust levels. One caveat is that this particular tool is not as effective at cutting Durock as some other options. However, for cement board and HardieBacker, this Kett shear is a must-have for anyone doing routine installation work.
